She’s a senior now! W/ India Widdicombe

As soon as we stumbled across India’s instagram page we were hooked - It was evident right from the start that we HAD to have her on the PR team. But not only is this babe a creative powerhouse packed to the brim with potential, she’s extremely kind, generous and is one of the biggest assets in our team. This week, the beautiful India qualified with Paloma Roan and so, we thought we’d catch up for a quick chat about her journey so far and to see what’s in store…

Omg, congrats! Transitioning from apprentice to senior stylist is a HUGE milestone. Could you share some of the key learnings you've gained during your journey in the hair industry?

Thank you so much- yay! I have learned SO much in my journey through the hair industry and I’m so thankful for all the wonderful people that have invested so much time and love into helping me grow. My biggest learning has definitely been that hair is so wildly diverse and individual, and the power of brightening someone’s day with a good old hair spruce up!

As a newly qualified senior stylist, what advice do you have for aspiring hair babes who are just starting their apprenticeship?

My advice to anyone starting out would be to really bring YOU to the role, carve out your own little pocket in the industry and be the niche you wanna see! Get hands on and shadow your fave stylists, there is SO much to learn and there are so many incredible stories to hear.

Tell us about some of your favourite or signature hair techniques - what can we expect to see from you on the salon floor?

I love to listen and consult with my clients- I’m so passionate about working with you and nailing your vision. With that said, you can leave your hair with me and I will sprinkle my lil touch of lived in, loved in, everyday hair. I love hair that feels good, works for your life and lasts. From glossy blondes to chocolate-y do’s I’m gonna hear you out and deliver!

What do you love about working at Paloma and what has your experience been like as an apprentice turned Senior?

Paloma is such a beautifully vibrant place to work- the people are everything- I have been so incredibly cared for and fostered in my growth- Learning from the best in the biz has been a delight and a privilege!

When you're not busy snipping & painting locks - what do you get up to?

When I’m not painting locks I’m painting canvases! Outside of the hair world I’m an artist, a friend and a music lover!

Fave BNE hangouts?

Out in the sunshine- on the deck with friends- cycling the river loop!

What is your at home hair and beauty regimen? And, do you have any hair tips that you swear by?

Keep it simple- If in doubt- hydration- I think that’s my biggest one. Hair or skin- hail or shine! I love Oway’s glossy nectar for shiny luscious locks and Kevin Murphy’s restore makes your hair so silky and slippy soft.

India is taking new clients but please note, she’s already a busy gal! Be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment (especially late nights and Saturdays)
